Desolation Sound and the Inside Passage

The geography on this route is a mesmerizing mix of narrow inlets to deep fjords and small rounded islands to towering glaciers. The scenery around these islands is arguably some of the most impressive on the British Columbia coast. There is a remarkable First Nations history in the area including sites in Lund, Cortes, Quadra, Toba Inlet and even Homfray Channel with several remaining relics and pictographs.

Southern Gulf Islands of the Salish Sea

With daylight hours spent cruising the coast and overnight in shoreside village accommodations, you’ll enjoy a complete Salish Sea Islands experience. The geology of these islands creates a fabulous cruising area. The Gulf Islands are made of sandstone that has been folded and uplifted until it protrudes out of the ocean, while the San Juan Islands are the peaks of sunken mountains. Although sitting on both sides of the border, the Gulf and San Juan Islands are so interconnected it feels like one big community.
